In recent years, the hospice community has experienced unprecedented regulatory challenges and changes. These obstacles will continue with increasing pressure from federal and state budgetary regulations and the ongoing opioid crisis.
Current Projects and Goals
- Work with the Louisiana Governor and Legislature to appoint Alliance board members to state boards and advisory committees dealing with end of life care issues
- Maintain Louisiana Facility Needs Review
- Monitor opioid regulatory changes
- Lobby State Legislators and policy makers in Louisiana
- Track legislation affecting end of life care
- Increase awareness of services provided by hospice and palliative care providers
- Raise funds for advocacy efforts
- Monitor Medical Marijuana Laws
- Continue the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Council
- Monitor legislation affecting end of life in other states
